HOLTVILLE — The Holtville High School football team moved to 3-3 on the season after defeating Escondido Charter 48-13 last week. Helping Holtville to the nonleague victory was senior running back and linebacker Andy Pascual.

“That (game) definitely helped set the tone for the rest of the season,” Pascual said.

The game was the final nonleague contest for the Vikings before they open Manzanita League action on Oct. 13 against Mt. Empire.

In last week’s win, Pascual had 14 carries for 123 yards and three rushing touchdowns, to go with a handful of receptions as well as a few tackles on defense.

“That whole day was really good,” said the 16-year-old. “It felt like the whole team came together and all helped in the win.”

Pascual was also coming off a hip injury and said he was glad to participate in the game and help his team to the win.

“It definitely felt good to come back,” he said.

With a bye on the schedule for this week, the Vikings are looking forward to their Oct. 13 matchup against the Red Hawks.

“There is definitely a lot of anticipation for that game,” Pascual said. “It’s always a good clash between us and Mt. Empire, so it should be a good game to watch.”
