Stephanie Escalera, 47, of El Centro passed away on September 29, 2017.

She was born November 27, 1969 in El Centro. Stephanie attended elementary schools in El Centro and graduated from Central Union High School in 1988 where she was an exceptional athlete lettering in Volleyball, Basketball and Softball. Softball was her passion for many years and she was a standout on the field. She was a tough competitor as an all-star shortstop and third baseman with the ability to stop anything. Stephanine worked in the Title industry for many years.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Antonia Patino Escalera, Papa Fred Escalera, Mama Lupe Escalera, Juan and Manuela Rodriguez; uncles, Darrell Escalera, John Rodriguez, Henry Rodriguez, Gilbert Rodriguez; father of her children, Steven Mendoza; son, Christopher Mendoza; daughters, Cassandra Marie Mendoza and Cortni Michelle Mendoza; parents, Larry and Toni Escalera; brothers, Stephen (Patti) Escalera, Michael Escalera; sister, Jennifer Escalera (Vincent O’Campo); nephew, Vincent Escalera-O’Campo; numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

Rosary will be held on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. with Mass to follow at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in El Centro Burial will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.
