ARTURO “TURI BOY” LOPEZ JR.

-

Mar. 20, 1995 - Oct. 4, 2017

Arturo Lopez Jr., 22, of El Centro passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 4, 2017 in his home following a short but courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

Born March 20, 1995 in El Centro, Arturo, or Turi as he was affectionately known, was a good hearted kid and very easy to fall in love with. In school, he was well known and well liked; so much, that his friends’ parents became his friends as well. Turi enjoyed riding, whether on his skateboard around town in Holtville, or with his brothers on his first dirt bike that his parents bought him in 2012. When he wasn’t skateboarding or riding his dirt bike, he could be found helping his father with his trucking business, Art & K Transport. Turi loved his family, and was very close to his mother. He loved getting together for gatherings where they shared stories and laughs as they barbecued. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will take place Monday, October 16, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro. Service is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, also at Hems Brothers Mortuary. He will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jose Martinez; maternal grandmother, Amelia Martinez; paternal grandfather, Ignacio Lopez; and uncle, Alberto Martinez.

Arturo is survived by his parents, Arturo and Josefina Lopez; siblings, Yadira (Raul) Ortiz, Dianela (Manuel) Parra, Kimberly Lopez, Hector (Aurora) Moreno, and Luis Moreno; uncle, Mario and Antonia Martinez; nieces and nephews, Melanie and Raul Jr., Alexis, Alena, Christian, Allyssa and Aubrey, Ayana and Alia, Ryan and Mason; and grandmother, Petra Torales.
