Support for Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting victims.

-

The Imperial County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday that the Victim Advocates from Imperial County are working with the California Victims Compensation Board to provide services to county residences who attended the State Route 91 Harvest Festival Concert.

The District Attorney’s Victim Witness Assistance Unit has been deployed locally to work with victims after the tragedy by providing assistance with the application process through CalVCB, explained a county District Attorney’s Office press release.

Anyone who was present at the concert that night is eligible for assistance and no crime report is needed.

CalVCB may be able to help pay for medical bills, mental health treatment or lost wages. Individuals may apply for assistance whether or not they were injured in the attack, stated the press release.

“Certain physical or psychological injuries may manifest much later and we encourage everyone who attended the concert to contact our office where our advocates are prepared to provide assistance,” stated District Attorney Gilbert G. Otero, who also noted that even those who don’t have the expenses today should still apply for CalVCB in case expenses incur in the future.

“Many members of our community attended the concert and have been deeply affected by the deadliest mass shooting in United States history,” said Otero.

The county Victim Witness Assistance Program is located at 940 West Main St., Suite 102 in El Centro and may be contacted at 442-265-1175.
