-

A 60-year-old man was arrested Tuesday morning at the Andrade Port of Entry for alleged felony drug offenses, stated county Sheriff’s Office arrest records.

Antonio Ramirez was taken into custody at about 11 a.m. Tuesday by Homeland Security Investigations agents at the Port of Entry and booked into county jail on suspicion of importation of controlled substances and knowingly importing or exporting a controlled substance, stated the arrest records.

Ramirez was held on no bail for the two alleged felony offenses, arrest records stated.

According to a federal court complaint, Ramirez’s vehicle was referred to second inspection while attempting to cross into the United States.

A Customs and Border Protection officer found a small plastic-wrapped bindle in Ramirez’s sock. The bindle was field-tested positive for the properties of heroin and had a total weight of approximately 0.025 pounds.

During the secondary inspection of the vehicle, CBP officers tapped the spare tire, which appeared to be hard and unusually solid, stated the court complaint.

During a further inspection of the spare tire, 22 plastic heat-sealed bags were found. One of the plastic packages was probed and field-tested positive for the properties of methamphetamine. The total weight of the 22 packages was approximately 31 pounds, the court complaint stated.
