Q Is there any truth to the rumor that Clinicas de Salud del Pueblo will be relocating from Brawley to the Valley Plaza in El Centro? If true, is this another example of the El Centro power grab? — Worried, Holtville
A
Based on the rather brief Probe question, it was difficult for us to determine whether the Probe writer was concerned about the potential loss of health services in Brawley, or whether they were more interested in finding out whether some sort of sweetened deal had enticed the nonprofit health care provider to relocate to El Centro.
What we can say is that Clinicas’ health care services will continue to be provided in Brawley, which include medical, dental, behavioral health and WIC services.
Nor are there any plans to interrupt any of the services it currently provides in Calexico, El Centro, Blythe, Winterhaven, Niland, Salton City, Coachella, Mecca and Hemet, said CDSDP Chief Executive Officer Yvonne Bell.
Yet, the Probe writer appears to have known more than they let on, considering that Clinicas does have plans to expand its services in El Centro with the establishment of a new facility.
Ultimately, the pending expansion effort will result in additional services, including pharmacy, expanded radiology, optometry services, and primary health care and administrative services, Bell said.
Clinicas officials declined to provide additional details regarding the planned expansion, but did assure us that when the time draws near, more information will be forthcoming.
Until then, we ask that the Probe writer be patient, no pun intended.
