CHP conducts search after murder suspect reported.

-

On Thursday afternoon, a number of law enforcement personnel surrounded the parking lot of the California Highway Patrol office with guns draw after a murder suspect was reportedly inside a vehicle.

At about 4 p.m., approximately six patrol cars, both marked and unmarked, flooded the parking lot, only to find the initial report of the murder suspect being inside the vehicle was false.

“It was a little miscommunication on everyone’s part,” explained CHP Public Affairs Officer Javier Amezcua.

The incident occurred after law enforcement agents in unmarked units were following a vehicle they believed was transporting a subject wanted in connection to a drive-by shooting.

CHP was unable to disclose any further information regarding the shooting.

The driver of the vehicle was a family member of the wanted suspect and picked up a person in a rural area.

The subjects in the vehicle dialed 911 after noticing unmarked units were following every turn they made.

The callers were directed to the CHP office, where an officer contacted them.

The vehicle pulled into the lot where the unmarked vehicles, filled with police officers, arrived with guns drawn.

The suspect was not in the vehicle and the parties in the vehicle were released after they were interviewed.
