santa Paws is coming to town
That’s right! It’s time for the Humane Society of Imperial County’s third annual Santa Paws is Coming to Town fundraiser! The event will be hosted by Fitness Oasis Health Club & Spa (504 W. Aten Road in Imperial) from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. It’s a great event with tons of fun for the entire family (both twoand four-legged). Thanks to Gabriel Gonzalez from Genuine Memories Photography, we will have professional pictures with Santa for only $20. Pictures with Santa can be taken with or without pets.
Aside from being able to get those super cute furry holiday family portraits that everyone loves taken, we will also have: a pet adoption party, a bake sale, raffle/drawing prizes, an ugly sweater contest, holiday crafts, $8 tamale plates, and a gingerbread house competition.
That’s a lot to do for this awesome holiday celebration. In case you might be wondering, adoption fees will be reduced by 50 percent in honor of our Homes for the Howlidays adoption special.
As for the bake sale and raffle/drawing prizes, we are in need of a bit of help.
It would greatly be appreciated if anyone can donate (preferably homemade) cookies, brownies, cakes, and/or pies. We also are in need of some awesome gift baskets or particular items or services for the raffle/drawing. If anyone would like to donate baked goods or a raffle/drawing prize, please shoot us an email at ivhumanesociety@gmail.com. Any and all donations will greatly be appreciated and will help immensely.
The winners of the ugly sweater contest and gingerbread house contest will win some super cool prizes, and both people and pets can participate in the contests.
Well, come to think of it … pets might not be able to participate in the gingerbread house contest for two reasons: 1. They don’t have thumbs and 2. They might eat it.
That would be hilarious! The main purpose for this particular event is to celebrate each year as it comes to an end and welcome in a new one with the hopes that it is better and filled with growth and pawsitivity. Some people do not have families to celebrate the holidays with or some people might just be stressed during the holiday season.
Whatever the reason being, we want everyone to know that they are welcome with open arms to join us for our big holiday bash. After all, what better way is there to celebrate the holidays than with great friends and fur-kids? We hope to see you all there.
