Scots recognized by the County
EL CENTRO — Following a historic run in the playoffs in which the Vincent Memorial Catholic High School Scots earned their first CIF-San Diego Section Division IV and SoCal Regional titles in school history, the Imperial County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution Tuesday to recognize their momentous achievements.
Members of the team, coaching staff and cheerleaders were in attendance at the board meeting in which the board unanimously passed the resolution.
The Scots won their first CIF title on Nov. 25 when they defeated Crawford 45-3 and two weeks later on Dec. 9 topped Huntington Park of Los Angeles 40-18 to earn the CIF Southern California Div. 6-A crown.
The journey for the Scots culminates this weekend when they host the Galileo Lions from San Francisco in the State 6-A state championship game at Ward Field in Calexico.
District 1 Supervisor John Renison, who represents Calexico, read the proclamation:
“Vincent Memorial has shown their true grit and resolve throughout the regular season and the playoffs in winning their first CIF title in school history, whereas every member of this team has shown commitment, focus, hard work, determination in becoming one of the teams working together to successfully achieve this goal,” the proclamation states.
