JIMMIE IRENE FRANKS

Irene, age 80 passed peacefully with family at her bedside on December 16, 2017 in Phoenix, AZ.

She was born to Perry and Pearl Irene Howell on August 29, 1937 in Telco, Texas. Irene is survived by her son Brian Franks of Brawley, CA and grandchild­ren Adam, Steven and Tiffany and their children; sister Virginia; nephew Bruce and his children Bruce Jr. and Ross.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents and her son Mark Franks who was a captain in the Brawley Fire department as well as being on the arson task force.

Irene attended Brawley Union High School and after graduating in 1955 attended Imperial Valley Community College where she earned her degree to become a licensed vocational nurse. She worked at El Centro hospital as well as Pioneers Hospital in Brawley. She spent a number of years working at Desert Medical Group in El Centro for Dr. John Haworth. She moved to San Diego for a few years and was employed by Scripps Clinic until she retired. Irene was a warm caring nurse who touched the hearts of many patients and their families during her life. After retiring she spent a short time in Phoenix, AZ before making her permanent home in Lake Havasu, AZ. Irene was devoted to her sons and grandchild­ren as well as her sister Virginia. They were all her primary focus in life. Family and friends will remember Irene as kind, thoughtful and caring. She will rest in our hearts forever and will be missed. It was her wish that there be no formal services. The interment of her ashes will be in Brawley at a later date.
