Michael Cameron, 83, of Holtville passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 of Pneumonia in San Diego, CA.
He was born October 22, 1934 in Corona, CA and later married Mona Manley Cameron on April 9, 1955 in Holtville. Michael’s employment history are the following: Ed Hale Construction Co., 1952-1958, Hathaway Construction Co., 1958-1960, MW Cameron Construction 1960-2001, Served building construction needs of Imperial and San Diego Counties including design of most buildings constructed. Retired from active construction in 2001, Project Manager for Imperial County Planning and Development construction projects 2001-2014. Community Service: Holtville Chamber of Commerce Board-1 term, Holtville City Council-1 term, Past President, Holtville Athletic Club- 1 term. Past President, Holtville Rotary Club- 1 term, Deacon Board Member, Cornerstone Community Church- 3 terms. Chairman, Imperial County Building Dept. Appeals Board Chairman, Holtville Schools Construction Oversite Committee. Hobbies: Hunting, Fishing, camping and off-roading in Canada, Mexico and USA. Accomplishments: Award-Winning Builder for building over 1 million square feet, MW Cameron Construction, Career builder for Butler Manufacturing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Cameron; step-father, Harry Hoke; mother, Gertrude “Camy” Cameron Hoke; son, Forrest “Frosty” Michael Cameron and brother, Donald L. Cameron.
Michael is survived by his wife, Mona M. Cameron; son, Frank (Melita) Cameron and their children, Kilah (Stephen) Elmore, Rory Cameron, Allison (Garrett) Nelson; daughter, Michelle (James) Marlow and their children, Kristin (Cameron) Palm, Megan (Diego) Ojeda. and 3 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Cornerstone Community Church, 125 E. 6th St., Holtville, CA and will be officiated by Hayden Norris.
