Valentine’s Day plans

- BY CAITLIN PEBLEY Southwest High School student

Valentine’s Day is an important day for most. Some spend Valentine’s Day with their loved one, their friends or even family.

The first thing you need to plan a date for Valentine’s is the person you spend it with. Finding the perfect person to take on a date is necessary.

Cassandra Silva, a 33-year-old dialysis technician, has been in a relationship with the same man for around 16 years.

Silva said that sometimes going with the flow on Valentine‘s Day is the best.

“I don’t really plan or have a dream date. I just kind of go with whatever we’re feeling that year,” said Silva.

Budgeting is the next thing that worries people on Valentine’s Day.

The pressure of buying gifts or taking your partner out on a date can be a lot to handle.

Ivan Beltran, a 19-year-old freshman at the University of California Riverside, said he loves to take his girlfriend on dates to Buffalo Wild Wings. Whether it’s Wing Thursday or not, he’ll take her any day.

“The best place to go on Valentine ‘s Day is Olive Garden or Buffalo Wild Wings because this year Valentine’s day is on a Thursday, and it’ll be wing Thursday,” Beltran said.

Wing Thursday is a day at Buffalo Wild Wings where wings are halfpriced.

Once a date and location is set, then plan the outfit. As the saying goes — you only get one chance to make a first impression.

Dakota Pebley, a 19-year-old sophomore at Imperial Valley College, said she believes finding the style that works for your personality and body is the best way to find an outfit.

“Try on a bunch of different style dresses, jeans, or t-shirts. Whichever one makes you feel the most beautiful and comfortable is the one you should go with.

It’s very important to be confident because everyone loves a confident man or woman,” Dakota said.

Now it’s about the memories. Whether it’s good, bad, or funny, memories are important for future dates. They can tell you what went great, or wrong.

Brenda Pebley, a Deputy Director of Social Services in the Imperial Valley who has been married for 20 years, said she believes every memory is important, especially on dates. Which is why planning a date that two people enjoy is a good way of creating memories.

“When you plan a date it’s important to know your partners interests and likes, because when you plan something that involves something they like or have always wanted to do, you are giving each other great memories that you can look back on at anytime,” said Pebley.
