-

Aug. 21, 1945 - Feb. 4, 2018

Bruce Lynn Jernigan, age 72, of Thermal, CA, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018.

Bruce was born August 21, 1945 in San Diego, CA. Bruce grew up in the Imperial Valley where as a young man he raised farm animals for 4H. He attended Imperial High School before enlisting in the Air Force in 1962. During his Military service with Air Force (1962-1967) he spent a year in Vietnam (May 65 to May 66). Upon returning from Vietnam, he became longtime resident of Hemet Valley. In 1973, he opened his first sporting goods store after working for Edison and GTE. Bruce would stay in the sporting goods industry throughout his lifetime. Bruce later moved to the desert where he purchased another Sporting Goods store. He fulfilled a lifetime dream of owning a ranch to raise cattle and hunt. He enjoyed the time spent breeding and raising cattle, much like he had done in when he was a boy in Imperial Valley.

He was an avid hunter, going to Africa, Argentina, Alaska, Scotland and too many other states and places to list. He enjoyed the outdoors and beauty of nature and its animals. He also enjoyed his ranch and the cattle, always sitting back and watching the young calves run and frolic around.

He is survived by his mother, Laura Evelyn Cronk; sister, Anne Cronk; ex-wife, Diane Jernigan; children, Mark Jernigan, Lynn Keller, Ryan Jernigan and 5 grandchildren.
