Wanda Mae Allegranza, 89, passed away peacefully at her home in Holtville, California on Monday, February 19, 2018.
Wanda was born in Missouri on September 23, 1928. She grew up in Colcord, Oklahoma with her parents John and Pattie Shay and siblings Bob, Norma, and Zoe. She married Ralph Allegranza of Colcord, Oklahoma and moved to Holtville where she and Ralph raised their seven children.
Wanda was a member of the Lutheran church in Holtville. Wanda and Ralph raised all their children in Holtville, engaging them in the church, sports, band, 4-H, and FFA. Wanda enjoyed sewing, gardening and was an excellent cook and baker. In addition to maintaining a greenhouse of potted plants, she collected elephant and butterfly artisan items. She always looked forward to family get-togethers, especially the Christmas Eve party at her house after the church service.
Wanda is preceded in death by her husband Ralph, her son James, and her brother Bob.
She is survived by her sons and daughter John (Cathy) Allegranza of Hesperia, California, Paula Allegranza of Palm Desert, California, Leo (Lori) Allegranza of Bakersfield, California, Mark Allegranza of Holtville, California, Tony Allegranza of Imperial, California, Terry (Rosie) Allegranza of Holtville, California, and Glen (Rowena) Allegranza of Holtville, California; grandchildren Kristen, Austin, Caitlin, Dustin, Jared, Tassa, Joe, Ted, Erica, Emily, Sadie, and Alexander; great grandchildren Lucas, Micah, Evie, and Sophia, and sisters Norma and Zoe.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Holtville on Saturday, March 24 at 10:30 am, with a reception following immediately afterward at the Swiss Club in Holtville.
