Wildcats continue tourney play

ESCONDIDO — The Brawley Union High softball team split two games Friday in the Cougar Classic Tournament here.

In the first game, Brawley lost to Steel Canyon, 10-4. At the plate for the Wildcats, Jalyn Ayala was 3-4 with an RBI, a double and a run scored; Brianna Hoffman was 2-2 with a walk and three runs scored; Haylee Garcia had a double and an RBI; Angelina Rodriguez had a double and an RBI, and Dana Alvarado and Caryn Aguilar each had a hit.

In the second game, Brawley beat Mission Hills, 2-1. Ayala picked up the win in the circle, giving up three hits and tallying eight strikeouts.

Offensively for the Wildcats, Hoffman was 1-1 with an RBI and two walks; Garcia had a hit and an RBI, while Ayala, Mia Rodriguez, Savannah Contreras and Mikalyn Emanuelli each had a hit.
