Student’s joke prompts police response

An Imagine School student reportedly made a threatening statement in class Wednesday afternoon that prompted administrators to notify El Centro police of the incident, stated Principal Grace Jiminez.

The unspecified statement turned out to have been made in jest but was nonetheless taken seriously at the time, Jiminez said.

“As school officials, we take any and all comments such as this very seriously, and we proceeded to contact the police so they could assess the situation,” Jiminez stated in an email.

Disciplinary action was taken against the student as a result of the incident, Jiminez said.
