Jaime, Roach to join HOF; Leadership Institute debuts
D r. Victor Jaime, who is retiring later this year after 38 years at Imperial Valley College, the last eight as its superintendent/ president, will be inducted into the IVC Alumni Hall of Fame on April 19. Also to be inducted is the late Dr. James Roach. Roach was a 20-year member and founder of the Foundation and the Imperial Valley Physicians Medical Group, one of the largest contributors to the Foundation.
The Hall of Fame dinner, which will be at the Del Rio Country Club in Brawley, will begin with no-host cocktails at 6 p.m., followed at 7 p.m. by the dinner featuring Brandt Beef, and the induction ceremony.
Tickets are $100 per person, $175 per couple, or $600 per table of eight and are available through the IVC Foundation office by calling 760-355-5411.
As Dr. Jaime’s retirement approaches, the IVC Foundation created The Victor Jaime Leadership Institute in his honor. Among its purposes, according to IVC Foundation Director Rod Smart, are: to recognize students with leadership qualities; to teach and implement leadership qualities, to develop and promote an internship program for leadership Ambassadors, to conduct two-day leadership challenge workshops available to IVC and other Imperial Valley institutions and businesses, and to establish a first-class speaker series on leadership on a semiannual basis. Instruction will be based on “The Student Leadership Challenge,” from the international best-selling book “The Leadership Challenge” by by James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner.
The Student Leadership Challenge Workshop is a one hour a week meeting that delivers a highly intensive-interactive experience that has served as a catalyst for profound leadership transformations in organizations of all sizes and all industries.
The initial goal in the first year of the institute is to raise $38,000, the number honoring Dr. Jaime’s 38 years of service to IVC. Donations may be made by contacting the IVC Foundation office or through the website, https://www. imperial.edu/about/ foundation/donate-online/givetoivcorg.
