BP arrests sex offender and known gang member
Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested two potentially dangerous men, a previously convicted sex offender and a “Border Brothers” gang member, who illegally entered the United States, a Customs and Border Protection news release reported.
The first incident occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m. Thursday, when Border Patrol agents patrolling approximately one half mile east of the Calexico Port of Entry confronted a man after he entered the United States by climbing over an international border fence.
Agents arrested the man and transported him to the Calexico Border Patrol station.
During processing duties, agents observed the man had several tattoos indicating affiliation with the notorious “Border Brothers” criminal gang. The man confirmed the affiliation upon questioning.
The man, a 37-year-old Mexican citizen, was removed to his country of origin, stated the news release.
The second incident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. Sunday when Border Patrol agents patrolling 34 miles west of the Calexico POE encountered a man who had illegally entered the United States.
Agents arrested the man and transported him to the El Centro Border Patrol station for processing.
Agents conducted record checks, which revealed that the man was a convicted sex offender and had an active warrant out of Orange County for dangerous drugs.
The man, a 57-year-old Mexican citizen, was prosecuted as a reinstatement of a previous removal.
