Letta Faye Nuckols Martinez, 78, of Brawley peacefully passed from this life to her eternal life on Sunday, April 8, 2018 in her home. She was born to Fred and Ruby Nuckols on November 13, 1939 in Lilbourn, Missouri.

Letta married Hector Martinez on April 22, 1970 in Mexicali.

As a young girl, Letta loved basketball. She attended Kewanee High School in Kewanee, Missouri and was an All-Star basketball player. She worked at Magnolia School, Brawley Union High School and Mulberry School. She loved preparing special meals for all her kids.

Her children and grand-children had a very special place in her heart. She was very proud of them and especially proud of her great-grandchild­ren. She would enjoy afternoons on her front porch watching them play in the yard. Letta and Hector would often enjoy an afternoon at a casino.

Letta was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ruby James Nuckols; brother, Freddie Nuckols; and son, Hector “JR” Martinez.

Letta is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Hector; son, David (Petite) Mainord; daughters, Valerie (Danny) Hilburn and Kelley Mainord Mendibles; brother, Dale (Elvira) Nuckles; sisters, Shelia Sullivan, Linda Cheatham, Donna Rabideau and Janet Romero; grandchil- ldren, nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be said on Tuesday, April 17th at 9:30 a.m. and Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church in Brawley with Father Manuel Gutierrez Del Toro officiatin­g. Burial will immediatel­y follow at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.
