IMPERIAL — The list of candidates for new president and superintendent of Imperial Valley College is down to five.
Those finalists are competing for the positions that will open up with the approaching retirement of Victor Jaime, Ed.D., who has served in various capacities at the college for 38 years.
They will appear before the IVC Board of Trustees at a public forum on campus May 1.
The candidates are Robert A. Frost, interim dean of the John Adams Campus of City College, San Francisco; Martha Garcia, Ed.D., vice president of student services at IVC and interim vice president of instruction; G.H. Javaheripour, Ed.D., president of Yuba College, Marysville, Calif.; Christopher Villa, Ed.D., vice president of student services at Los Angeles Mission College, and Wei Zhou, Ph.D., past president of Crafton Hills College, Yucaipa, Calif.
The public forum will begin at 5 p.m. with a “meet and greet,” followed by the forum at 6 p.m. The event will take place in room 2734 on campus.
Each candidate will be given up to two minutes for an introduction. Each candidate will be asked a question in round-robin format. Not each candidate will get the same question.
At the end of the round-robin question-and-answer period, each candidate will be provided two minutes for closing remarks. The forum is scheduled to end at 8 p.m.
The trustees have scheduled a special meeting at 4 p.m. May 2, when they will be doing their own closed-session interviews.
