Geneva Richter 96, El Centro

Geneva Marie Richter, 96, of El Centro passed away on May 1, 2018. She went peacefully while listening to one of her favorite songs, “Amazing Grace”.

Marie, a.k.a. Gunga, was born to Edward and Ruby Lewis on August 16, 1921, in Hutchinson, KS. On June 16, 1940, she married Robert Christopher Richter and the two of them began their lives in the Imperial Valley.

Marie was responsible for creating a place of joy for her family. Kids, grandkids, and great-grandchildren alike were all able to experience the fun at every holiday. Through the eyes of her family it was like Disneyland, the happiest place on Earth.

Marie was heavily involved with the Grace Lutheran church, whether it was financial or a contribution of time, whatever the church needed, she was there. The church was her Disneyland. We would like to think she was issued a fastpass to Heaven.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; siblings, Jackie Lewis, Shirley Danskin, and Joyce Sassie; grandson, Preston; and son-in -law, George.

She is survived by her brothers Laird, Arthur, and Ed Ellis Lewis; children, Marlene Kinney, Shirlee Heidler, Bobby Richter, and Chris Richter. In addition, she is survived by 10 grandchildren and many great grand-children.

Services will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in El Centro. A private family burial will take place the following day.
