META RUTH KRUEGER

Meta Ruth Woelfer Krueger died peacefully on April 10, 2018 at Vintage Village in El Centro, CA, her home for the past 12 years.

Meta was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 28, 1920 and grew up in an orphanage in Kirkwood, Missouri during the Great Depression.

She graduated from Nursing School in 1942 as a registered nurse and followed her passion of helping people and giving back to her community. Meta married Arlo Krueger, a Lutheran minister and raised their 4 children in various parts of the country including Wisconsin, Illinois, Florida, Nevada and California where Arlo served as a pastor. Meta loved nursing and when the family moved to Calexico, so that Arlo could serve as a pastor of the Lutheran Church there. Meta worked at Calexico Hospital and later worked at El Centro Regional Medical Center. Meta and Arlo lived in Georgia at the time of Arlo’s passing in 2003, then Meta moved to El Centro to be close to her daughters Judy and Sharon.

Meta is survived by her children, Judy (Mike) Hashem of El Centro, Dennis (Laurie) Krueger of Santa Barbara, CA and Don (Val) Krueger of Grand Junction, Colorado; 7 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon MacDuffee in 2011.

Meta’s family is extremely grateful to Vintage Village and the amazing caregivers Meta had over the past 12 years. We would also like to thank Aria Hospice for the excellent care Meta received during her final months.

A Memorial service will be held for Meta on May 26, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, El Centro, CA. At a future date she will be buried at Ivy Lawn Cemetery in Ventura, CA where her husband and daughter are buried.
