Track final sees several repeat champs
EL CENTRO — The regular track and field season came to a close on Thursday night here with the completion of the Imperial Valley League championships at Southwest High.
The final meet of the IVL season determined the champions for all the individual and relay events, with numerous athletes picking up repeat honors.
In the boys’ 100 and 200 meter events, Justin Cordova from Southwest High successfully defended the two titles he won last season.
Also from Southwest, Tyler Saikhon picked up his second-consecutive 110-meter hurdle title and third straight 300-meter hurdle title.
From Central Union High, Arely Pacheco also earned her third-consecutive win in the 300-meter hurdles, and from Brawley Union High Alyssa Maldonado earned her second-consecutive girls’ 100-meter title.
The teams and individuals will be back in action on Saturday in Mt. Carmel for the CIF-San Diego Section preliminaries.
