Stolen vehicle recovered by ECPD

A vehicle reportedly stolen from Bucklin Park on Ross Avenue was recovered by El Centro police officers Monday night, El Centro Police Department call logs stated.

ECPD was able to recover the vehicle, a red 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer, within a few hours of it being reported stolen.

The vehicle was found after the alleged thief had crashed the vehicle near Hope and Holt streets and fled the scene.

The vehicle hit a city street sign and a fence for an apartment in the area.

The alleged thief had fled the scene about 10 minutes prior to a reporting party notifying ECPD. Call logs make no mention of an arrest being made.

By 1 a.m. Tuesday, ECPD returned the Mitsubishi to its owner.
