SPORTS IVC prepping for annual camp
IMPERIAL — The registration period for the upcoming basketball camp hosted by the Imperial Valley College men’s basketball program is now open to interested participants.
The camp is available to girls and boys ages 6 through 18 with cost to participate set at $65 per camper.
The fee will help cover the daily instruction from IVC players and coaches, a shirt, access to the IVC pool, a player report card and a camp ball.
The camp’s first session will be held from July 30 to Aug. 2 and the second session will run from Aug. 6 to Aug. 9.
Each session will focus on strengthening the participants’ ball-handling skills, footwork, work ethic, shooting, defense, offense and more.
Students are asked to bring athletic shorts, shirts and socks, basketball shoes, swim suits, a towel and sunscreen if desired to swim in the pool.
Participants are also encouraged to bring their own lunch or money as the snack bar will be open each day, with pizza and sports drinks available for sale at $2 and $1, respectively.
The typical camp day will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Activities will include warmups, player development, team practice and games, followed by pool time.
Interested participants are asked to sign up early, as only the first 60 participants will be accepted per session.
