Jose Nunez, 70, of Brawley passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, after a brief illness. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his loving family.

Trini was born on March 8, 1948, in San Jeronimo, Jalisco, Mexico to Rita and Margarito Nunez. In 1956, he moved to Mexicali, where he later met his future wife of 47 years Otilia. They married in Mexicali, Mexico on December 19, 1970 and began his family. In 1973, Trini moved to Brawley where he worked as an equipment operator for Tom and Rich Fifield. He later went on to work for Moiola Brothers and ultimately retiring as an irrigation foreman from Desert Sky Farms, after 29 years of dedicated service.

He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfathe­r and brother. Trini had a passion for gardening, his dogs and a good glass of wine. He cared deeply for his friends, especially his neighbors who were more like family.

Trini is preceded in death by his mother, Rita G. Nunez and father Margarito Nunez.

He is survived by his wife, Otilia Nunez of Brawley, CA; daughters, Claudia (Paul) Stotts of Mesa, AZ, and Christina (Brandon) Copeland of Brawley, CA; sons, Gerardo “Jerry” (Maritza) Nunez of Brawley, CA and Steven Nunez of San Diego, CA; grandchild­ren, Nathan Stotts, Samanatha Copeland, Noah Stotts, Julianna Copeland, Hayden Copeland, Adriana Nunez, Allison Nunez and Emma Nunez; siblings, Enrique Nunez, Carolina (Ben) Feizeiv, Jaime (Frances) Nunez, Norma Nunez, Elvia (Rob) Riebel and David (Stacy) Nunez.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018, at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley from 6 to 9 p.m. Mass will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at St. Margaret Mary Church in Brawley at 9 a.m. and will be officiated by Father Ed Horning. Burial will follow mass at Riverview Cemetery.
