Man indicted for vehicle theft
A man was indicted by a state judge for his alleged involvement in a vehicle theft case, said Wednesday the Attorney General’s office.
The agency identified the suspect as Yovanie “Doe,” no age reported.
According to authorities, the victim arrived on March 4 in a medical center at Colonia Santa Isabel neighborhood in western Mexicali in his 1998 Ford Windstar.
After leaving the doctor’s office, the victim realized his vehicle was missing.
The vehicle owner reported the incident at the emergency center, and police officers began searching for the suspect.
Mexicali police agents found and arrested the suspect blocks from the scene.
The judge gave detectives one month to close the investigation.
The Mexicali Public Utilities Commission denied special fee benefits were given to any private company.
The agency recalled a Wastewater Treatment Decree was approved this year to charge a reduced fee to businesses that include a treatment plant in their facilities. Commission General Manager Francisco Javier Paredes said both residential and non-residential users are charged a fee for water and wastewater services according to state law. According to news reports published Wednesday, New Yorkbased Constellation Brands beer company will pay a reduced fee again this year on its southern Mexicali plant.
Paredes said the decree signed by the Department of Planning and Finance seeks to benefit businesses that do not pour wastewater into the local system while treating and reusing water. The general manager emphasized that no companies had registered to participate in the program.
