RAUL ESTRADA Aug. 25, 1935 - July 8, 2018

Raul Estrada, 82, of El Centro passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018.

He was born on August 25, 1935 in Puruandiro, Michoacan and later married Alice Estrada on October 18, 1957 in Orosi, CA. Raul immigrated to the United States on March 13, 1957. Became a farm labor contractor during the era of Cesar Chavez and then founded Las Palmas in Calexico in 1967.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Estrada; children, Larry Rodriguez, Daniel Estrada, Joseph Estrada, Andres Estrada, Guadalupe Estrada, and Brenda E. Martinez; grandchild­ren, Vanessa Cota, Lupita Rodriguez, Alicia Rodriguez, Eliana Rodriguez, Daniela Estrada, Raquel Estrada, Daniel Estrada, Jesse Estrada, Joana Estrada, Jessica Estrada, Aryanna Estrada, Jonah Estrada, Aaron Estrada, Andres Estrada, Adrian Estrada, Alec Estrada, Julio Cesar Martinez, Christian Martinez, Kevin Martinez, and Brenda Martinez; great-grandchild­ren, Sasha Cota, Evelyn Cota, Avelino Cota, Joseph Rodriguez, Leo Kingston Gonzalez, and Apollo Ray Gonzalez; brother, Gregorio Estrada; sister, Tedoroa Valerio and Familia Rosales.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 6 p.m., with Rosary being said at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church 135 Fourth St. Calexico, CA 92231. Mass will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 8 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church 135 Fourth St. Calexico, CA 92231. Friends and family are welcome to join a gathering at Las Palms Swampmeet in Calexico after mass.

MATILDA “TILLIE” OROZCO RAMOS Mar. 14, 1942 - July 8, 2018

Matilda “Tillie” Orozco Ramos, 76, of Brawley peacefully took her last breaths of life just after midnight July 8, 2018.

Tillie was born on March 14, 1942 in Guadalajar­a, Jalisco, Mexico and lived in Brawley for most of her life. She attended Brawley elementary schools through high school. On June 6, 1959 she married Rudy L. Ramos and they had recently celebrated their 59th anniversar­y.

Tillie was predecease­d by her mother, Benita “Cata” Lopez; step-father, Issac Ysmael Nava; brothers, Maximilian­o Orozco, Jesus Gutierrez and Richard Nava; sister, Yolanda N. Curiel and great-granddaugh­ter Eva Ramos.

Survivors include husband of 59 years, Rodolpho L. Ramos Sr.; sons, Rodolpho O. Ramos Jr. and Ernest O. Ramos; daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and Joe Derma; grandchild­ren, Rouzanna Duran-Ramos Gutierrez (Cristobal Gutierrez), Reuben and Channing Ramos, Vanessa Derma, Audrionna Ramos, Tony Ramos, Allyson Derma, Mia Ramos, Cameron Ramos and Allyssa Derma; great- grandchild­ren, Ezekiel and Elise Ramos; sisters, Connie Archuleta, Gloria Jimenez, Evelyn Harrell, Veronica Gomez and Rachel Nelmida; brothers, Eddie Nava and Robert Nava.

Services will be held at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley on Friday July 27th from 6 to 9 p.m. followed by 8 a.m. Mass on Saturday morning July 28th at St. Margaret Mary Church in Brawley and laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery.

RAMON ROMO LOPEZ JR. Nov. 12, 1956 - July 9, 2018

Ramon Romo Lopez Jr., 61, of Calipatria, CA passed away on Monday July 9, 2018.

Ramon was born on November 12, 1956 in Brawley, CA. Ramon loved music, he had his DJ equipment and loved to play music. He worked in the family business as an insurance agent.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Juana Lopez; brother, Jesse Lopez; sisters, Teresa Mendez and Carmen Martinez.

He is survived by his daughters, Monique and Olivia Lopez; brothers, Joe (Juanita) Lopez of Calipatria, Manuel Lopez of Riverside and Javier (Rosemarie) Lopez of Brawley; sisters, Alice (Hiroshi) Matsumoto of Colorado, Angela Lopez of Hemet, Gloria Hull of Utah, Beatriz (Vicente) Garcia of Perris and Esperanza (Greg) Nunez of Brawley; numerous nieces and nephews. Ramon will be missed by his loved ones and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018 from 9 to 10 a.m. with chapel service to follow, at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley, CA. Burial will immediatel­y follow at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley, CA.

DELORES MING May 4, 1924 - June 28, 2018

A loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r and a longtime resident of Escalon, passed away in her home Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the age of 94 after a short illness.

Delores was born in Los Angeles, CA, raised and attended school in the Holtville area. She was the daughter of Carl and Opal Hawkensen. She will be remembered for her love of family, her hand sewn quilts she made with her husband, Ted, her dolls and angels. Delores always had a smile to offer to whoever approached her. She was a lifelong member of SJVSC, a member of VFW Auxiliary and a parishione­r of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Delores will be missed dearly by her family and friends for her company, comments and smile.

Delores was preceded in death by her soulmate and husband, Ted; her son, Teddy and his wife Bertie; granddaugh­ters, Carol Granillo and Laurie Saldana; her mother and father; her brothers, Sonny and Gurnie and her sister, Betty.

She is survived by her daughter, Penny Granillo; her sons, Dale Ming (Carolyn) of Holtville, CA and Allen Ming (Margaret AKA Gig) of Escalon, CA. Delores also leaves behind 8 grandchild­ren, nine great grandchild­ren and one great great grandson.

Deegan Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Ming family. A visitation and funeral Mass were held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ripon on July 5th and 6th, 2018 with committal immediatel­y following at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.

Remembranc­es may be made to Community Hospice; 4368 Spyres Way in Modesto or Bethany Home; 930 West Main St. in Ripon.

FRANCISCO “CHICO” SOTO ZARATE Jan. 11, 1978 - July 8, 2018

Francisco Zarate, 40, of Brawley passed away on July 8, 2018 in San Diego, California.

Francisco was born on January 11, 1978 in El Centro, CA, and raised in Brawley, CA, and lived in the Imperial Valley his whole life. Francisco attended school in Brawley and graduated from B.U.H.S. in 1996. He worked as a plumber for the last 10 years. His hobbies included playing softball, riding ATV’s, R.C. Cars, music and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparen­ts, Jesus and Elena Soto; paternal grandparen­ts, Jose and Antonia Zarate and father, Joe R. Zarate Jr.

Francisco is survived by his mother, Mary Helen Soto; 2nd mother, Rosa D. Moreno; brother, Joseph Soto Zarate; nephew, Joseph Iroquoi Zarate; wife, of 18 years, Jeanette Garcia; children, Bobby (Azahares), Janessa (Mario), Jonathon, and Victoria; grandchild­ren, Sean Leo and Brian Donnie; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley at 6 to 9 p.m. Mass will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018 at St. Margaret Mary Church in Brawley at 10 a.m.
