Martha Pittson

Martha passed away at the age of 91 on June 30, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She went peacefully to be with the Lord and to greet her family members who preceded her in Heaven.

Martha was born Martha Ann Haney on June 10, 1927 in Cartney, Arkansas. She was the seventh and youngest child born to Euria and Roxie Haney. After high school she moved to several places in the south eventually ending up in Albuquerqu­e, New Mexico where she met the love of her life, William H. Pittson. They were married in Taos, New Mexico on July 5, 1948. Bill was a member of the U.S. Air Force and he and Martha, over the next 25 years, were stationed in Tucson, Arizona, Landstuhl, Germany, Roswell, New Mexico, the Philippine­s, and Jacksonvil­le, Arkansas. After his retirement they purchased land and built a home in Sardis, Arkansas. They raised three children.

Martha moved to El Centro in 1979 and worked for a while as a switchboar­d operator at Pioneers Memorial Hospital and later at El Centro Regional Medical Center where she retired after 15 years of service. Martha was a member of the hospital’s Activity Committee and served as the hospital’s Mrs. Santa Claus for a number of years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Martha enjoyed cooking, crafting, shopping, traveling, and visiting with family and friends.

Martha was a devoted mother, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r, sister, aunt and friend.

She is survived by three daughters, Patti (Jeff) Kiser of El Centro, Sandra Pittson of El Centro, and Cathy Goodnight of Benton, AR; four grandchild­ren, Sky Pittson, M.D., of Palo Alto, CA, Stefanie Wilson of Benton, AR, Tashia (Sean) Navarro of Kelseyvill­e, CA, and Tiffany (Nate) Campbell of Citrus Heights, CA; 5 greatgrand­children, Aubree, Domanik, Andreas, Roman, Dylan and Riley.

Family members preceding her in death were her spouse, William Pittson; her parents, Euria and Roxie Haney; brothers, Orville, Lesile, Lenford and TJ (Dude) Haney; sisters, Opal and Theresa; nieces, Roxie, Kathy, Rita, Maurica and Betty.

The family will hold a “Celebratio­n of Life” on August 5, 2018 in Imperial. Interment will be held on August 6th at 10:30 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.
