Man arrested for smuggling meth

-

A 22-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly attempting to smuggle more than 2 pounds of methamphetamine while crossing through the west port of entry pedestrian lanes.

Kennedy Evans-Moreno was taken into custody at 9 p.m. Tuesday at the port of entry by Homeland Security Investigations agents and booked into county jail without bond on suspicion of unlawful importation of a controlled substance, county Sheriff’s Office arrest records stated.

According to a federal court complaint, Evans, who was a Mexican citizen with a valid Border Crosser Card, was referred to the pedestrian secondary area for further inspection while attempting to cross into the United States through the port of entry Tuesday night.

While escorting Evans to the pedestrian secondary area, a Customs and Border Protection officer performed a pat down of Evans. The agent felt what he believed to be a bra under Evan’s shirt, and a canine enforcement officer was requested.

The CEO then conducted a search with his human narcotics detector dog, which alerted positive to Evans.

During the pat down and search of Evans, a CBPO discovered one package taped to Evan’s chest, and one package taped to his groin area.

Both packages had a combined weight of 2.38 pounds and field-tested positive for meth.
