Authorities say a Southern California youth pastor has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting children over nearly two decades.

The Press-Enterprise reports Malo Victor Monteiro was arrested Friday in Riverside County, east of Los Angeles. The 45-year-old could face charges including intent to commit rape, mayhem or sodomy, lewd and lascivious acts on a child and sexual penetration by force. The name of the church where Monteiro worked was not disclosed.

The sheriff’s department spelled his name as Montiero, but jail records listed him as Monteiro. Los AnGeLes

A property touted as the finest undeveloped plot of land in all of Los Angeles is hitting the market with the most expensive listing in the history of the city: $1 billion.

The Los Angeles Times reports the parcel, branded as “The Mountain,” sits at the highest point in the 90210 ZIP code.

Listing agent Aaron Kirman calls it “the crown jewel of Beverly Hills.” Views stretch from downtown Los Angeles to Catalina Island, and the closest neighbor is half a mile away. Disneyland, at roughly 0.13 square miles (0.34 square kilometers), is a little more than half the size of the property.

The current owner of the mountaintop is Secured Capital Property, according to Ronald Richards, an attorney and spokesman for the company.

Authorities say a man was killed when the car he was driving plunged more than 275 feet (84 meters) over a coastal California cliff.

Officials tell KEYT-TV it appears the sedan failed to negotiate a sharp turn along Highway 1 near Big Sur on Saturday.

The California Highway Patrol says a helicopter was called to assist in the initial search but it was canceled because of heavy fog. Crews were able to reach the wreckage from the beach below.

The coroner’s office will identify the victim.

The news station says the crash happened just a few miles from the area where an Oregon woman survived for nearly a week after her car went over the cliff earlier this month. coronA

The average price of regular-grade gasoline in the U.S. fell 3 cents over the past two weeks to $2.91.

Industry analyst Trilby Lundberg of the Lundberg Survey said Sunday that the average price is 59 cents higher than it was one year ago.

Lundberg says the drop comes mostly from lower crude oil prices and generally weak demand for gas across the U.S.

The highest average price in the contiguous 48 states was $3.71 in the San Francisco Bay Area. The lowest was $2.50 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The U.S. average diesel price is $3.17, also down 3 cents.
