Larry Villegas, 57, of Brawley passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018 of complicati­ons from surgery at Scripps Hospital in San Diego.

He was born on April 11, 1961 in Brawley, CA. Larry aka “Smokey” as many called him. He was known for his kindness and love for his family. He lived and cared for his mother for many years, until her death. He enjoyed hearing oldies and Spanish music. He was often seen around town riding his bike and would take the time to talk and meet with friends. Larry will forever be missed and loved by many. Our greatest consolatio­n is knowing he accepted the Lord shortly before his passing. Until we meet again, we won’t say goodbye, but see you later beloved brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Villegas and Mary G. Villegas; and brother, Joe Villegas Jr.

Larry is survived by his brother, Albert “Bibi” Villegas of Brawley; sisters, Aurora Villegas of Brawley, Lili Juarez of Brawley, Isabel Villavicen­cio of Sparks, NV. and Lupe Villegas of Indio, CA; other extended family members, Carlos Villegas of Mexicali, Yolanda Villegas of Mexicali and Pat Villegas of Fresno.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 8 to 10 a.m. at Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley, CA. Service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Church in Brawley, CA and will be officiated by Father Andrew Kunambi. Burial will immediatel­y follow at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.
