Man arrested for woman’s murder

A man was arrested early Tuesday in eastern Mexicali for his alleged involvement in the murder of his girlfriend, according to a police report.

Authorities identified the suspect as Andrés “Doe,” 22.

The suspect presumably killed Karina López, 25, who was found dead and naked inside a room at Hotel Mediterráneo, located by Lázaro Cárdenas Boulevard.

Authorities said the woman had an injury on her neck, apparently caused by a knife.

A hotel employee told the police the suspect left the room in a gray Ford Focus with California plates.

The vehicle was found at 12:33 a.m. at 3401 Río Champotón St.

The police said the suspect arrived at the address with his hands full of blood and said he had killed his girlfriend.

Police agents stopped the suspect who was not in possession of any stolen items. However, the officers confirmed the man was wanted for burglary.

The suspect was turned over to a prosecuting agency.
