GENE PESL Jan. 3, 1947 - Sept. 10, 2018

Gordon “Gene” Pesl was born in Brawley on January 3, 1947, and passed away on September 10, 2018 at Scripps Memorial in La Jolla.

In his earlier years he attended schools in Brawley and enjoyed camping and fishing. He married Rosemary Alvarado in 1978 and worked at Desert Ag and The Dune Company for over 40 years. He enjoyed working with everyone at the The Dune Company and missed working with them all when he retired in 2017. He enjoyed taking family trips to Ensenada and San Quintin. Gene enjoyed family time with all the Alvarado family.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents Martin and Caroline Pesl; brother Dale Pesl; step-grandfather, Clarence Fischer; aunt and uncle Joe and Nita LeClerq; parents-in-law Pedro and Frances Alvarado.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Rosemary Pesl; daughter, Marsa (Rod) Hansen; son, Gordon “Sonny” Pesl (Janet) of Salinas; daughters, Tracy Pesl, Lisa Alvarado and Kristina Costa. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Zach, Jenna, Jerod, Olivia, Tyler, Samantha, Cecilia, Andrew and Matthew as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held September 24, 2018 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in Calexico with a celebration of life to follow.

Mario Cesar Marquez “Chato Checker”, 76 of El Centro CA, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018.

He is survived by his daughters, Violeta Marquez of San Diego, CA and Yvonne Marquez of Washington State; siblings, Mauricio Marquez of El Centro, CA, Oscar Marquez , Ramon Marquez, Josefina Marquez, Yolanda Marquez, Sierra Branz-Hernandez and Dylan Anthony Marquez.
