DALIA VARELA PESQUEIRA

Dalia, the other cohost for “Expresate,” is a Program Supervisor III/Licensed Marriage Child and Family Therapist for Behavioral Health Services. She currently supervises Juvenile Hall Services and Adolescent Habilitative Learning Program, combined mental health and educational services to adolescents whose emotional/behavioral disturbances prevent them from maximizing their learning and functioning capabilities in regular classroom setting. Lastly she supervises services for the Youth and Young Adult (YAYA) El Centro Family Resource Center. That includes program services for the Central Union High School District. She is the licensed clinician assigned to Behavioral Health Services multidisciplinary team meetings with Probation and Social Services to discuss minors at risk of losing placement.

Dalia has been working for ICBHS since 2002. Upon earning a Master’s Degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy, she was promoted to a mental health counselor and has trained in several evidence-based models. Today she is the Program Supervisor of programs servicing high risk youth with mental health disorders from ages 12 to 25.

Dalia was appointed to the production team in March 2018. She said the topics and segments she has participated in so far “have a great message to our community as a whole that promotes wellness to our families.”

Dalia and her husband, a firefighter, have been married for 13 years and have two children together, ages 7 and 10. She has two stepchildren who are now adults. The couple enjoys spending time with family, including long trips, going to the movies, going to their children’s games and concerts.
