Jimmie Carlton Doyle, 79, of Yuma, AZ passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at home surrounded by family and beloved companion, Tuffy.

Jimmie was born on December 31, 1938 in Dalhart, Texas. He met the love of his life, Opal Mae Maharry, in 1957. They married in 1958 and became parents to four children. At the time of Opal’s passing, they had been married for just under 60 years.

Around the time of his marriage, Jimmie’s country music career was gathering speed. He was a natural musician, playing steel, bass, and acoustic guitars, all by ear. Jimmie was further gifted as a lyricist and vocalist. During the 1960’s Jimmie created Cuta Rug Music, B.M.I., One Stop Music Service. His success in the music industry peaked as his single, “One More Night with You” hit number one on the country music charts and held that position for sixteen weeks. As headliner, Jimmie worked numerous Las Vegas and Reno venues, as well as his hometown performanc­es at Brawley Cattle Call and The Midwinter Fair. He shared the stage with performers such Tanya Tucker, Barbara Fairchild, Wynn Stewart, Hank Williams Jr., Kenney Rogers and the First Addition, and Loretta Lynn. He was a lifelong friend of Ralph Mooney, steel guitarist for Waylon Jennings.

As the family grew Jimmie shifted his priorities on being home more often. He earned his real estate Broker’s license and soon opened Town and Country Real Estate. He and Opal successful­ly operated this business for forty years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Opal Doyle; parents, Roger Carl and Mattie Doyle; brothers, Wayne, Richard “Doc” Doyle and sisters, Carolyn Farmstead and Sharon Doyle.

He is survived by his daughters, Cindy (Terrance) Eaton of South Jordan, Utah, Tammy (David) Slater of Yuma, AZ, and son, Jimmie (Daniela) Doyle of Boulevard, CA; sisters, Linda (Danny) Holly of Reno, NV and Laurie (Bill) Ingram of Coeurd’ Alene, Idaho. He also leaves behind 13 grandchild­ren, 11 great-grandchild­ren and companion, Tuffy.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 5 p.m. at Sunset Vista Funeral Home, 11357 East 40th St. in Yuma, AZ. Service will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Sunset Vista Funeral Home, 11357 East 40th St. in Yuma, AZ. Burial will immediatel­y follow at Sunset Vista Cemetery, 11357 East 40th St. in Yuma, AZ.
