Karen Wallman 73, El Centro

Karen Wallman, 73, of El Centro passed away on July 24, 2018 in her home.

She was born on October 9, 1944 in El Centro. Karen was a teacher at Wilson Jr. High School from 1968 until 2004 when she retired. She taught Home, History and Math. Karen enjoyed working with students and accompanie­d them on trips to Washington D.C. for several years. Karen was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a United Methodist Women Group participan­t, making meals and serving them on numerous occasions and for many events. Karen loved to share her talents and always knew where everything was in the Kitchen. Karen also was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, El Centro Chapter #276 and Yuma Chapter #14. She served as Worthy Matron twice as well as holding other important offices from 1972 until her death. Karen gave of herself and her talents to help the Kiwanis Club of El Centro and the Salvation Army, just to name a few. She will be missed from these organizati­ons and by the many friends she has.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Hansen and Betty Hansen; brothers, John Hansen and Ross Hansen.

Karen is survived by her niece, Kristine Ceragioli (Jim) of Minden, NV; nephew, Gene Hansen (Janie) of Miami, FL.; great-nieces, Elspeth Hansen and Alyssa Sanders; great-nephew, Lucas Hansen, Stephen and Catherine Johnson.

Celebratio­n of life will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in El Centro and will be officiated by Pastor Ron Griffen.
