Trujillo family fundraiser a huge success

-

On Oct. 13, the Desert Cruisers Car Club of the Imperial Valley and Yuma, Ariz., and the W.I.N.O. (Workers in Name Only) Group sponsored a car show in the Sears parking lot to benefit the Trujillo Family of Yuma struggling with mounting medical expenses.

The little girl is suffering from lymphedema and the mom is battling two forms of cancer. We would like to thank our major sponsors, Sears, which provided the venue; Howard Johnson Inn, Yuma, our host hotel; APS Mobile Detailing; and Underground Records who provided the fantastic music.

We would also like to thank the individuals and generous businesses both in Yuma and the Imperial Valley that sponsored the trophies and so graciously donated more than 200 raffle items.

Two lucky winners will be enjoying a two-night stay at the Aquarius Casino Resort and at the Casino at Laughlin River Lodge, respectively, in Laughlin, Nev.

We would like to thank the car clubs that attended both from Yuma and the Imperial Valley and the individuals locally and those who travelled long distances from San Diego, the Imperial Valley, Phoenix and Parker, Ariz., to participate and make our fundraising endeavor a huge success.

A good time was had by all: beautiful weather (a little moist early), beautiful cars, good music, the vendors appeared to do a brisk business, raffle prizes, a 50/50 drawing with the winner donating the winnings back to the cause, and awards to various types of cars and trucks.

It was a great day for a good cause and we would like to thank everyone for their participation. Desert Cruisers Car Club & W.I.N.O. Group
