SALTON CITY (UPI) — The body of a Cathedral City man, missing since November 1965, when 30 cars plunged into the Whitewater Storm Channel during a flood, was found by hunters during the weekend.

The body was tentatively identified as that of Robert Kish, who was 38 at the time of the accident. Sheriff’s deputies said the tentative identification was made through a wallet found near the body.

Officers said Kish’s body was found Saturday on the west side of the Salton Sea in tidal land terrain, some 35 to 40 miles from the point at which his car entered the channel at Cathedral Canyon in Cathedral City.

The channel runs from the San Gorgonio Pass to the Salton Sea.

Joe Evangelist and Ed Bilderback are two high school football coaches who received extremely fine showings from their varsity clubs a week ago tomorrow night.

Each prep mentor needs an additional superior offering tomorrow night. Victories for Central and Imperial might turn into SCIF Playoffs berths for both elevens.

Imperial’s Tigers had stumbled five straight weeks before defeating Holtville, 16-8. Central’s Spartans had one exhibition win tucked away before beating Coachella, 7-0.

Evangelist and his Spartans face the supreme test this week. The County Seat boys will be on the road, visiting the Palo Verde Yellowjackets in Blythe.
