Oroville man caught with drugs

An Oroville, Calif., man was arrested along with another individual in western Mexicali by state police for possession of heroin, the state Department of Public Safety said Tuesday.

The incident occurred at Eleventh Street and Oaxaca Street at Colonia Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood.

The suspects were observed by the police in a 2011 Toyota Tundra that was previously reported as a vehicle used by drug smugglers, the agency said.

Police officers stopped the driver without incident.

The driver was identified as Luis Alberto “Doe,” 36, and the passenger was identified as Mike “Doe,” 35, of Oroville, Calif.

The suspects were inspected, but officers were unable to find anything illegal on their persons.

However, inside the vehicle, officers found several packages containing around 2 pounds of heroin. The suspects were apprehended and turned over to a prosecuting agency.
