Man sentenced for robbery
A man was sentenced by a state judge to 27 years and six months of prison for his involvement in three robbery cases, the Attorney General’s office said Tuesday.
The convicted man was identified as Víctor Alfonso Simo Piña, no age reported.
According to authorities, the suspect pleaded guilty for the April 2017 robbery of a money exchange business located by Lázaro Cárdenas Boulevard at Colonia Coahuila neighborhood.
The suspect and an accomplice arrived armed at the scene to steal cash.
For this crime, the suspect was also sentenced to pay close to $20,000 in fines and damages.
The individual was also sentenced for the May 2017 robbery at Hotel Real Inn, located just a block from the state Police Headquarters.
Simo Piña and another man arrived at the scene with guns to steal about $14,756 in ticket sale proceeds from a Marco Antonio Solís concert.
The judge also sentenced the man for the June 2017 robbery at Bancoppel bank branch located at Fraccionamiento Villanova subdivision in western Mexicali.
The suspect and another man threatened an employee and stole $1,135 from the bank and a customer.
