Trio arrested for kidnapping
Three men were arrested by state police officers for their alleged involvement in a kidnapping and robbery case in August, said the Attorney General’s office.
The agency identified the suspects as Carlos “Doe,” Francisco “Doe,” and Carlos “Doe,” no ages reported.
According to authorities, the suspects were involved in a kidnapping, robbery and a carjacking incident against a single victim that occurred on Aug. 17 at Lazaro Cardenas Boulevard and Venustiano Carranza Boulevard in eastern Mexicali.
The agency said the victim was forced into his own vehicle at gunpoint and instructed to drive to Lagunares Lomas Street at Fraccionamiento Lagos del Sol neighborhood in southern Mexicali, where the other two suspects were waiting.
According to the agency, the suspects punched the victim in the face and forced him to enter the residence at gunpoint. The victim was then bound by his hands and feet, the agency reported.
Authorities reported the suspects stole 35,000 pesos, or $1,794, identification cards and the victim’s house keys.
The suspects then allegedly demanded 1 million pesos from the victim’s relative.
The victim escaped while being transported to another location and asked Mexicali police officers for help.
The suspect was identified as Francisco “Doe,” who was arrested at 11:30 p.m. in possession of a knife.
According to the police, the suspect was involved in the robbery of an Oxxo convenience store located at Mirfac Avenue and Pluton Street at Fraccionamiento Valle de las Misiones neighborhood in eastern Mexicali.
The reporting party said the suspect stole 1,050 pesos, or $53.84.
