Two attempted kidnapping­s reported

Two female college students were able to escape from kidnapping attempts Wednesday in separate incidents, according to media reports.

The first incident occurred at 11 a.m. in the surroundin­gs of the School of Dentistry of the Autonomous University of Baja California at Fraccionam­iento Calafia subdivisio­n.

The 22-year-old victim asked police officers for help after the driver of a green Toyota Corolla approached her by Huertas Street.

The victim told authoritie­s a heavyset man in his 40s asked her to approach the vehicle but she refused.

The suspect then reported stopped the vehicle and exited the car to grab the woman by the arms.

The suspect fled when another vehicle passed by the area.

A similar incident occurred around the same time by Durango University.

In this case, the 19-year-old victim said two individual­s approached her at Miguel Bravo Street in a burgundy Nissan Altima.

The passenger exited the vehicle and opened the trunk. Then the suspect grabbed the victim by the hair.

The driver also allegedly attempted to kidnap the teenager, but she was able to flee.

The suspects were described as two men in their mid-30s who were dressed in dark clothes.
