MARIA AMPARO CERDA GONZALES

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, August, 7, 2019 at Hems Brothers Mortuary chapel in Calexico for Ma. Amparo Cerda Gonzales, 96, of Calexico who died Monday in her home.

Rosary services will be at 9 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Hems Brothers Mortuary in Calexico. Followed by a graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico. Family will officiate.

Mrs. Gonzales was born January 5, 1923, in Mexicali. She married her husband Rudolph Gonzales on June 30, 1949, in Mexicali. They were married 55 years before his death.

Mrs. Gonzales was a housewife and taught kindergart­en in Mexicali. She was a loving mother and grandmothe­r. She took great care of her daughter Estela and grandchild­ren Ricardo, Michael and Derek.

According to family, Mrs. Gonzales enjoyed teaching the piano and enjoyed Argentinia­n Tango music. Family said she loved all her family and the family loved her.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Rodolfo Jose and Marta Gonzales of Riverside; daughter and son-in-law; Estela Gonzales Ryan and Rich Ryan of El Centro; grandchild­ren, Peggy Ryan of El Centro, Ricardo, and Derek of Calexico; Michael and his wife, Maribel Aguayo of Oklahoma City; Adam and Aaron Gonzales of Riverside; Amy Gonzales of San Diego; great grandchild­ren Erick, Karen, Mikey, and Christian Aguayo of Oklahoma City.

Flowers are welcome, however, a donation to the American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciate­d.

SANTIAGA “JULIA” SANCHEZ

Dec. 30, 1923 - July 21, 2019

Santiaga Sanchez, 95, of Brawley passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019.

She was born on December 30, 1923 in San Gabriel, CA. Santiaga was a housekeepe­r for many years. She was employed by Mr. and Mrs. Dar Quinn, Mrs. Fifield, Mr. and Mrs. Sanders, Mrs. Trily and Mr. and Mrs. Graves. Santiaga was known as “Julia” too many people. She was known for her homemade tortillas, lemon meringue pie and german chocolate cake. Julia was a homebody. She welcomed everyone to her home and made them feel at home. Even though Julia had one son, she was a mother too many.

Santiaga was preceded in death by her father, Juan Castaneda; mother, Maria Ruiz; brother, Richard Castaneda; sister, Cecilia Jauregui; nephew, Robert Ruiz; parents, Cipriano and Adelaide Morales; and brother, Frank Morales.

Santiaga is survived by her son, Eddie Sanchez of Brawley; brother, Juan Castaneda Jr.; cousins, Yolanda Galarte; Mary Lou and Juan Alvarado, Gilbert and Frances Jauregui, Aurelio and Martha Jauregui, Chris and Robert Ybarra, Oscar and Veronica Jauregui, Helen and Ray Leckland, Patsy Espinosa, Charlie Jauregui and Priscilla Jauregui.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 6 to 9 p.m. with Rosary being said at 7 p.m. at Frye Chapel and Mortuary in Brawley. Mass will be held on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Brawley. Burial will immediatel­y follow at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.

GLENN FAYE CARTER

June 16, 1934 - June 29, 2019

Glenn Carter was born June 16, 1934 in Blairs Virginia to Robert Ned and Edna Kathleen Walton. She passed away peacefully on June 29, 2019 in Indio CA.

Raised in Danville Va. she received her nursing degree in 1955 from Memorial Hospital. She moved to El Centro Ca. in 1956 where she lived most of her adult life. She worked as a Registered Nurse, retiring as an Assistant Quality Assurance Coordinato­r/Reviewer from El Centro Regional Medical Center in 1999.

Preceding her in death were two children, Brenda and Connie Carter.

She is survived by five siblings, Lois Rye, Patsy Penninger, Dorothy Dix, Robert Walton all of Danville Va. and Carolyn Carter of El Centro Ca. Three daughters Barbara Marshall (husband Jack) of Imperial, Sherree Williams (husband Gary) of Indio, and Mary Kathleen Windsor (husband Richie) of Westmorlan­d. She was known affectiona­tely as Nana to ten grandchild­ren and eighteen great grandchild­ren.

A Celebratio­n of life will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Central Baptist Church, 1290 S. Imperial Avenue, El Centro, CA 92243.
