Garbage in, garbage out

-

After reading about the awful shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, I felt compelled to add my comments on this tragedy.

Although I am not on Facebook and am not too familiar with all the videos that are so popular with the young people currently, it seems to me that all those features have gotten out of control. I just heard on the news that the participation in school sports has become grossly negligible in comparison to five years ago. What a shame. These activities not only are excellent ways to obtain the exercise young people need at their stage in life, but they build character, friendships and useful education on how to get along in the future.

Instead, it seems a great many young people choose to limit their exposure to sports and relating with their peers nowadays, and spend countless hours watching videos, the majority of which are violent in nature and can become very injurious to a young person’s psyche. I’m sure this becomes the central focus of their time, a habit so to speak, and consumes a great deal of their lives.

These young people involved in these horrendous acts, it seems, were loners and consumed with wrong-thinking, due to not being exposed to what young men should be involved in at their age.

They become thwarted in their thinking, not expanding their minds in useful ways, and begin believing all the “junk” they watch daily, instead of getting out in the fresh air and realizing that the world and the people in it are where they should concentrate their time and efforts. And so, in their muddled minds, they decide to do something about a situation that, in reality, doesn’t exist.

What a waste. I have only cited one scenario that might be a factor, There are many others. But one thing is for sure: This must be stopped. And I’ll leave it to others with more insight into the situation to try to eradicate this catastrophe, and only pray a solution will be met.
