Athlete — “Nobody o the top of my head.” Class — “I like coding. I’m taking an Intro to Coding class. I wanna get into that more in the next couple years.” Free-time activity — “I play a ton of videogames.” Videogames — “Escape from Tarkov, [Grand Theft Auto] … stu like that.” Music — “Whatever they’re playing inside the wrestling room. That’s good enough for me.”

What do you enjoy most about your sport? What’s one of the best moments you’ve had this season?

“I would have to say the finals at Carlsbad Invitational. … It was our first tournament of the season and [winning there] showed me that my freshman year didn’t define me. … I wasn’t at the level that I wanted to be as a freshman, [but Carslbad] showed me how I’d improved as a wrestler and that I’m ready to take it to these guys who would always beat up on me before.”

Who inspires you and why?

“Some of the friends I’ve made through wrestling — my fellow wrestlers like Marcos, Paul, Darion … and Galbiso — those guys really inspire me to get better for the team so we can win as a team.”

What are your goals for the rest of the year?

“The biggest goal is always to make it to state. There’s not much other than that. I could hope to place at state — that’d be awesome — but I need to see where my skillset lies before hoping on that.”

“That wrestling builds character. Just, straight up. All the wrestlers I’ve met have been hard workers — the hardest workers I know. What you put into wrestling is what you’re gonna get out of it.”
