CARMEN LOPEZ Apr. 29, 1923 - Feb. 5, 2020

Carmen Lopez, 96, of Calexico, C A passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2 020, surrounded by family due to complicati­ons of Alzheimer.

Carmen was born in San Sebastian del Oeste Jalisco MX. Carmen was a talented seamstress who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and making beautiful dresses. As a teen Carmen taught school aged girls to s ew. In her early 2 0’s she met the love o f her life Catarino and moved to Mexicali BC. In 1961 Carmen immigrated with Catarino and settled d own in Calexico where she was a homemaker and raised 11 children.

Carmen was a member of El Club de Los Amigos and served as Secretary and Treasurer for many years. She enjoyed going to Bingo every Wednesday at the Old WalMart and doing Arts and Crafts at the Community Center. Carmen was active in her faith and participat­ed in the church leading the congregati­on in prayer or did readings during mass. Carmen enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. C armen loved children and enjoyed watching her grandchild­ren and greatgrand­children grow.

She was preceded in death by her parents Federico Ramos and Jovita Cobian; her husband Catarino Orendain Lopez of 72 y ears; her sons Sgt. Luis Alfonso Lopez- Ramos, F rancisco Javier Lopez, Juan Alberto Lopez; her grandson Oscar Armando Lopez and son- in- law Harold Eugene (Gene) Lansing and 12 siblings.

She is survived by sons, Jose Lopez of C alexico CA, Rene Lopez (Juana) of C ovina CA, Arturo Lopez (Renee) of Moreno Valley CA; daughters, Esther Lansing of C alexico CA, Lorena Torres (Carlos) of W estmorelan­d CA, Terry Camargo ( David) of Chula Vista CA, Irma Lopez (Miguel Nolasco) o f Temecula CA, Rosa Lopez ( Gil Gomez) o f Chino Hills CA; sisters, L upe Ramos of M exicali, BC and Dimna Sanchez o f Mexico C ity, MX; as well as numerous g randchildr­en, greatgrand­children, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, M arch 5, 2 020 at 9 a.m. with rosary at 10 a.m. at H ems Brothers

Chapel in Calexico, C A. Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. with Father Jose Sosa officiatin­g, at Our Lady o f Guadalupe Church in Calexico, C A. Burial will immediatel­y follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico, CA.

NOEL “BURT” SEEGER 1926 - 2020

Noel “Burt” Seeger passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 93 on January 23, 2020. He was born in Spokane, WA. on March 2, 1926 t o Maxamillio­n and Clara Seeger.

The family moved to San Diego a couple of years after his birth. He graduated from Hoover High School in 1945. A fter graduation he joined the United States Navy. He spent two years serving his country and upon his return, enrolled and graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Animal Husbandry. A fter college he returned to San Diego in 1948. It w as then he met his future wife and love of his life, Renee, on a blind date. T hey were married in 1950 and the marriage spanned a period of 67 years.

Burt had a passion for the livestock industry and pursued this career culminatin­g with a partnershi­p that built Allied Cattle Feeders in Calexico, CA. Burt was a charter member of the Stockmen’s Club of I mperial Valley. H e was also a long time member and past president of the California Cattlemen’s Associatio­n. H e and Renee loved to take group tours of different cattle country with other members of the associatio­n. He fully retired from the cattle business in 2003 and shut down the feedlot. After retirement he took up a passion for woodworkin­g to fulfill his days. Burt was also a member o f Saint Peter and Paul’s Episcopal Church in El Centro.

He w as preceded in death by his parents, Maxamillio­n and Clara Seeger; his loving wife, Renee and an infant daughter, Peggy Ann.

Noel is survived by his daughter, Cathy (Kenny) Zinn of El Centro; s ons, Danny (Kathy) of Imperial and Paul of A guanga; grandchild­ren, Bryan, Blake, B rittany ( Carpenter), M elissa, Makaila, and Dax as well as six great- grandchild­ren and his sister, Connie Melhorn.

A private family service is planned for a future date.

MARY HELEN COVARRUBIA­S May 18, 1956 - Dec. 30, 2019

Mary Helen C ovarrubias, 65, of El Centro, CA passed away o f natural causes on December 30, 2019.

Mary Helen was born on Mary 18, 1956 in Brawley, CA.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Jenni A. Obeso; sister, Lucy Ruiz and b rother, Raymond Obeso.

She is survived by her dad, Albert Obeso Sr., brother, Albert Obeso Jr.; sister, Delfina Estrada; sons, Carlos O beso o f El Centro and Joel Obeso of El Centro; and daughter- in- law, Priscilla; 1 0 grand- kids.

Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 8 a.m. at Our Lady o f Guadalupe Catholic Church in El Centro, C A. Burial will immediatel­y f ollow at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro, CA.

RUBEN CERROS GONZALEZ Jan. 6, 1960 - Feb. 8, 2020

Ruben Gonzalez, 60, El Centro passed away on Saturday, F ebruary 8, 2020.

He was born on January 6, 1960 in San Luis Mexico and later married Victoria B. Gonzalez on January 19, 1991. R uben worked as an Agricultur­al laborer.

Ruben was preceded in death by his brothers, Ramon Gonzalez and Rigoberto Gonzalez.

He is survived by his wife, Victoria B. Gonzalez, daughters, Ashley, Leslie and Kelsey Gonzalez.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, M arch 4, 2020 at 6 p.m. and Rosary being said at 7 p .m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro. Service will be held on T hursday, March 5, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Hems Brothers Mortuary in El Centro and will be officiated by F ather Ed Horning. Burial will immediatel­y follow at Evergreen Cemetery i n El Centro.
