Walter Beasley, Sr., also known as “Mancy/Mr. Beasley,” was born in Union City, AR, November 13, 1936, to Alfred Beasley and Lillie Pearl Jones-Beasley.

He was the eldest of two siblings.

Walter always approached life with a spirit of excellence. He graduated from Douglas/Central Union High School and Imperial Valley College. Thereafter, he served in the United States Army for four years. Walter matriculated to San Diego State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education and pursued his Master’s in Education. Walter worked for the El Centro Elementary School District for forty years until retirement and secured a part-time employment with the United States Customs.

Having roots in the Imperial Valley Community all his life, Walter aka Mr. Beasley was well-versed and took a stand to protect and preserve his family and community. For many years Walter worked in the fields hiring many inner city youth, teaching them the value of giving beyond what was expected. One of his many sayings was “Never be ashamed to do what is necessary for yourself and your family.” As a committed educator was fluent in Spanish and was able to reach many students who happen to speak English as a second language. Walter used his teaching knowledge and handwork ethics to mentor, train and teach others to be successful and productive in life. If you had a listening ear, Walter aka Mr. Beasley, was often ready to share a story or two about some interesting facts about just any subject matter in which he was well versed.

As an exceptional leader and community servant, Mr. Beasley’s affiliations included: Imperial Valley Master Chorale, NAACP, and was dedicated to various churches.

Walter united in marriage with his beloved wife June L. Morgan-Beasley in 1960. They remained devoted to each other until her transition in 2018. Walter leaves to cherish his loving memory his children, Walter Beasley, Jr., Tanya D. Beasley, and Tammy R. Beasley; his sister Sylvia Flowers (Billy Ray); special cousins, Fannie Mae Willis, Jerry Brown; one grandchild Julia L. Beasley; two great-grandchildren Kaydyn & Kaylyn Beasley, many nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members.

During Walter’s well-lived life, he endeared himself to numerous other relatives and friends that he considered a part of his core and extending family.

The family of Walter Beasley, Sr., in appreciation we extend our heartfelt thanks for the sympathy you have extended towards our family during this difficult time. We will be hosting a celebration of life for our beloved father when it is safe to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Imperial County Alzheimer’s Association San Diego/ Imperial Chapter.
