WILLIAM V. FORTUNE

William Fortune,85, of Brawley passed away on May 29, 2020.

He was born on April 19, 1 935 in J erusalem Township, North Carolina. William g raduated from J ames B. D udley High School; Class of 1952. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1 955 serving 20 years as a Dental technician earning the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Upon retirement William owned and operated a Dental repair firm; servicing the Northern IL and Southern WI R egion. William continued to operate his firm throughout an 8 year stint as a Lake County Deputy S heriff. He r etired from D ental repair and a 17 year career with the US Postal Service. In 1996 William relocated to B rawley, CA reuniting with the love of his life Hugrstine. W illiam attended Brawley Tabernacle Church of God In Christ faithfully for 24 y ears serving on the Deacon’s B oard and as Treasurer.

He w as preceded in death by h is mother, Dorascina Vinson Miles; stepfather, Willie Miles and father, William B oyd Fortune, all of w hom were f rom Greensboro, NC.

William is survived by his wife, Hugrstine Fortune; children, Marjorie Cattouse of G reensboro, NC, C eles Walker of Brawley, V ictoria Butler of Fairfield, CA, Delorise Masters of F ayetteville, NC, Teresa F ortune of Brawley, M ary Bell of Brawley, C andace Fortune of C armichael, CA, Christie Mowery of Brawley, Nashalla Bell of Brawley, N ichelle (Michael) Mosely of Charlotte, NC, F red (Khadijah) Butler of Temecula, C A, William V. F ortune Jr. (Annazette) of B rawley and Adrian Fortune (Beverly) o f Beach Park, IL. A host of g randchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, friends and acquaintances.

Visitation will be held on Friday, J une 19th at Frye Chapel and Mortuary from 8 to 1 0:30am. Graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Brawley and will be officiated by Pastor Mario Yancy.
