Deputies admonish six for swimming in canal

Six persons got a talking to after they were caught swimming in the Highline Canal near Verde School Road, county scanner traffic stated.

An Imperial Irrigation District rep spotted the swimmers about 6:50 p.m. and notified the county Sheriff’s Office.

Just before deputies arrived, the swimmers — five males and one female who were young in age — left the scene in two vehicles.

Deputies eventually tracked down the two vehicles, a gray Honda Civic and a white Prius, and admonished the swimmers.
